First Coach Fired This Season

Usually, mid-season coaching changes are a made in response to an underachieving team. We know teams like WPG, SJS, and even ARI are expected to be playoff teams this season. If one of these teams is way outside the playoff picture in late November or early December, I think there's a great chance we see one of these coaches fired.

My guess is Pete DeBoer is the next coach to go. I don't see how the Sharks possibly live up to the lofty expectations placed on them after last season and after signing EK long term. I think there're weak defensively and losing their captain will hurt big time in all facets of the game.

If the Sharks don't turn things around within the next few weeks, DeBoer is out the door.

Otherwise it's way too early to say.
