3rd line Center Help

Created by: BOLTLOVER1
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2019
Published: Oct. 7, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With Point and Paquette out for now .
This shines a HUGE light on Tampa center depth which makes it 10 times worse due to crappy Tampa wings who can not create anything. With Stamkos going to wing the lack of depth is glaring. MAYBE ABB comes up with AHL but trading for a 3C NOW seems reasonable

I think he would be a pretty good fit there but we cant afford to trade him without someone coming back as it leaves a gap in our roster. From a flames POV (bc im also a bolts fan) what would it take to get TyJo if Jankowski is involved in the trade? Frolik and a pick mid pick?

Good commentary .. was thinking about Ferland also .. him and Jancowksi are around $6M in cap and both on last years contracts.. Calgary looking to lower cap some so why I suggested draft pick .. If Calgary happens to like Tylo or Gourde.. by all means they can be had but they do have stupid NTCs .. I agree Calgary and Tampa make logical trade partners.. would love to get Harmonic also and maybe Tampa gives Sergachev in deal.. Tyler Johnson and Sergachev for Harmonic Janokowski and Ferland?.. LOTS of logic for both teams

Cant Cirelli be your 3c? Or Johnson? Or Gourde? Assuming Stampkos and Point are your top 2.

Frolick not Ferland .. close enough

Stamkos days at center are at/almost over ... optimally Stamkos goes to 2nd line wing and Cirelli escalates to 2C although he not ready offensively yet to me. So Tampa has 2 top lines ..

Issue is this leave huge 3C hole and Johnson and Gourde are small and not capable of creating offense as they are just role wings .. Paquette who I like COULD do 3C role but .. like Cirelli .. he not ready yet offensively.. hence the center need now and hope ABB ready in 2020

Ferlands on Vancouver and just signed there is summer, you mean Frolik right? For the sake of not playing telephone I'll assume so. So IMO if TyJo is to waive to any team (excluding being taken in the expansion which he most likely will if still on Tampa) it would be to Calgary. He is from North West USA not too far from away by drive (very scenic route too). Hes also familiar with our current head coach as they won a championship together in the past. Not to mention the Flames are a team competing for the cup right now as well. Mind you this is just my take, his decision at the end of the day.

You aren't the only one interested in Hammer (seems like every team wants a Pesce like defender). However Serg has so much potential that the values off IMO, like he already has 76 points across 161 games not even playing top minutes most of it. I think you are better looking at trading him to a different team if you cant afford him next year. From a Flames stand point I'm always skeptical on trading Hamonic since he meshes super well with Hanifin and is one of our few RHD, Serg is the most tempting offer ive seen so far though.

Cirelli has taken a massive step forward and should be playing 2C the issue is paying TyJo 5M to play 3C when hes much more of a 2RW kind of player. Tampa doesn't have a lot of depth after that for the role

Agree and really like Cirelli.. but his offensive game is 1 to 2 years away from true 2C .. recall he only 22 and will be all this year ..

It won't be a big issue as Point is likely to return within just a few games and Paquette will be back by the end of the month at worst. Stamkos is still likely going to be a 1C/2C with Point taking the other line, Cirelli at 3C and Paquette at 4C. Verhaeghe can also center the 3rd/4th line if needed. Tyler Johnson is a solid center that can be a 2C in a pinch and more than adequate 3C(5 million is more than I'd like to pay a 3C so yeah 2nd line wing is more likely). It wasn't too long ago he was basically the team's 1C/2C for a long stretch when Stammer went down with a couple different injuries(2016/2017). Tampa is quite deep at C and will be fine at that position moving forward.
