Is Nolan Patrick not being put in a position to succeed or is he just not that good?

With Hasktol it was definitely him holding him back to some degree, but Patrick's skating really needs to improve.

Nolan Patrick does have talent and a skill set that can absolutely succeed in the NHL. He has fought injury every since his last year in Junior and has not ever had a full healthy offseason to get ready for the season. Even whilst playing with injury, when he has been put in spots that benefit him (3rd line C as opposed to 2nd line C, Power Play Time, etc.) he has succeeded. He has had a few streaks of being a point per game player in double digit games over his career, and seemed to be really turning the page towards the end of last year. However, with this chronic migraine issue, who knows. Neurological issues just can't be predicted, but there have been players who have been able to overcome issues like these and still go on to have a successful career, one case was early on in Nik Backstrom's career. I really feel for the kid, but he is a talent and the Flyers would stupid, for lack of a better term, to give up on him so early, being that he just 21 years old two and a half weeks ago.
