If the sabres could get the package from Edmonton, then they wouldn't need the middle man help of the rangers. Plus, the sabres don't need dmen back.

For Kreider it's gotta be appealing to play with McD or Drais...but I see him as a northeast guy...could be wrong here...but not sure he would sign long term with EDM...and his signing would be a big part of this deal

He is...and 2C's don't grow on trees...they are either drafted or paid a ransom for...so what more would you want?

The idea here is the Rangers get their 2C...Buffalo upgrades their wing, while replacing a D (they were rumored to be looking to move) for a cheaper RD showing some real upside...while EDM gets a young D (with great pedigree) who is signed for several years along with a middle 6 wing and a young center

He's going to get that wherever he signs...right now I believe Kreider has a 10 team no trade list...I wouldn't be surprised if all Canadian teams are on that list...so unless he is blown away by an offer from a team on that list- he may as well nix the trade and wait to become UFA (don't think the Rangers will let that happen though= they will find him a place where he will sign)

An expiring ufa, just what the sabres need is another player to overpay. Sabres also need a center so they would rather have rnh. If you haven't looked, sabres are set on rd with Montour, Miller, and joker. The deal is not anywhere near what the Sabres would accept.

Sabres dont need Dmen back, he already said that too. If they want to upgrade their wing, they could just move Risto for a winger.

If I'm wrong in assuming he's available...that's cool- just have heard his name in the rumor mill...and with this year and next left on his contract- this is the year to get good return for him...unless he figures in their longer term plans.

The players you sent to Buffalo are better/have more potential than the players you got back. Really bad trade.

From the posts here...doesn't seem Sabre fans are that thrilled with it...but from a Ranger fan perspective- what more would you want from Buffalo?

RNH is far 2 critical 2 ED's structure to replace with a dicey puck moving D & some 3rd liners.

The only guys I'd be interested in are their top young guys. Dahlin, Jokiharju, Olofsson, etc., but they're probably untouchable from Buffalo's perspective. I simply wouldn't do a deal with them
