Description
What about these guys? (Aside from Honka who should be an automatic at this point)

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Honka, Julius [RFA Rights]
DAL
  1. 2021 3rd round pick (WPG)
2.
WPG
  1. Bogosian, Zach
  2. Scandella, Marco
Additional Details:
Probably just one but could be both IDK, depends on who they can send back or how much BUFF retains.

Look these are just veteran band-aids and by no means players they need to make part of their core going forward. Anyone who says they're worse than Bitetto or Dahlstrom or Kulikov or Beaulieu is exaggerating.

The point is not having to give Heinola and Niku too many minutes and rushing their development in a year when there is going to be a lot of eyes watching.
BUF
One, both, who cares? Prolly cost a late pick at best and they're both UFA's. Its not like WPG needs the cap space right now anyway.

Bogo probably won't okay for awhile so it's most likely scandella for fourth rounder.

That bad? Every resource I've seen says he might miss the beginning of the year but his 5-6 month prognosis was back in April so by the end of October he should be getting close no?

Scandella is worth more than BOGO, and he is worth more now that he is playing well

He is out "indefinitely" per the injury report this morning which doesn't sound great and is unfortunate because he started to get back into the rhythm last year.

Hmm ok must have had a setback. I guess any trade for him would have to hinge on a recovery within the next couple months then.

Sure but I think its important to define more also. A 6th round pick is worth more than a 7th round pick.

@F50marco, I seem to be blocked, can you help this? Also what did you have in mind to offer Buffalo for either of them, now or at the TDL?
    @BuFfaLOFaN
IMO we all be surprised by the return for Bogosian and Scandella.
Retain half of their salary and a playoff team will give a lot for a RHD who had 19 pts last year playing with an injured hip, or a LHD who ranked among the top first pairing defenseman with his 6 goals.
Remember a few years back Weber brought back a third and while I liked him a lot, he is not as talented as either Scandella or Bogosian.

I agree, this is my thoughts exactly...I think a lot of people are forgetting that Pilot is returning and he needs a spot on the roster as he is a stud of a player!

Retaining his salary and trading him to a team that needs LD with a scoring touch could return a 3rd +

Is Scandella playing well? I always liked him on the Wild and was sad to see him go. Surprised me to see so many Buffalo fans say he was so bad.

Wait. Until they actually put together a full season up until the TDL, dreaming of a 3rd is a lot. Teams have changed since the days of stocking up on depth at the TDL for mediocre players. Key players are getting less and less return and the GMs who went all willy nilly are being scolded for it now. Scandella and Bogo may not even be in the BUF lineup by the TDL....

The value Buffalo is getting now, is in the form of cap space. Cap space to go get a big name pending UFA. If you expect a 3rd for Scandella and lets say a 4th for Bogo, fine keep them. You're the one that will be sitting them as 7th dmen taking up cap space and not being used.

Last year the whole team was bad and coach made the defenders look trash.

BOGO might not be on roster... But Scandella is playing very well and looks to be worth his 4million at the moment. His D pair is playing very well.

I don't think they are overachieving after last night, but the coach made a huge difference. I honestly think that last night was the greatest show of what the Sabres spirit is yet. They where not the best but managed to scrape a point out of it and could have won it if Eichel hadn't turned that over in the corner. Normally he is one of the best 3-3 players in the league.
