I know Sabres fans are all happy, the team is winning and it looks to finally turn a page in the right direction but don't spit in our face and tell us its raining.

Just 2 weeks ago, Scandella was being discussed in trades for a 5th-6th.... with retention. Now after 3 games, this BS?

There's jacking up the price and then there's this. A 3rd rounder would be more appropriate.

Both fan bases greatly over value their players . Scandella has benefitted from the new coaching staff . And is an acceptable 4 -5 d on most teams. Nelson is a good 7th d for any team . Buffalo just has a wealth of D at this point . Nelson for a 6th or 7th would be a fair deal that could give Winnipeg some depth on D. I see Scandella being worth a 4th or 5th round pick with his better play.

Roslavic has been a 3rd line 20 point guy for his career (admittedly he is misused but that doesnt seem to be changing) and i would value Nelson over Scandella, who is a decent 6th dman and has had a good start under Kreuger. 2 NHL dmen, to a team that needs them, for a 20-30 point player, how is that spitting in anyones face

i'm siding with the oof crowd here. roslovic is a young, cost-controlled forward with upside and nelson and scandella are depth defensemen (and overpaid in scandella's case) who can walk after the season. so it's bad asset management regardless of scandella and nelson's ability. and they're not good defenseman anyway. so bad asset management + talent disparity = oof.

He's 22 and a former 1st rounder who is just scratching the surface of his potential still... This isn't rocket science. Nelson is a waiver wire player that every team has that every team can just get on waivers when necessary. Very little value. Scandella is playing better and seems to be gelling under Krueger but its also 3 games in. Buffalo was was 10-0 last year and look what happened. A player like Scandella doesn't go from barely 5th-6th round pick material to Roslovic after 3 games. I get it the concept of buy low sell high but this is straight up larceny.

Yeah WPG needs dman, they don't need dmen at any cost though. Scandella and nelson hardly push the needle for them. Upgrades on a few guys sure but not worth losing Roslovic over.

How do we now Roslavic hasnt hit his ceiling, we havent seen him elevate his play at all tbh. What if hes nothing more than another Sheary. Draft status doesnt mean anything.

Roslavic has a year left, the only way you consider him "cost controlled" is if you think hes not good enough to get a decent raise, which means theirs not much talent disparity.

he's an RFA with years of team control. even if he lights it up, he won't get as much as he would have as a UFA. it's why jeff skinner makes only $250k less per season than mikko rantanen. that's what i mean by cost controlled.

Then based on that you should have zero want to get this guy...... You want him because of that potential. That's what makes him valuable still. At his age, most would agree you haven't hit your stride in the NHL yet.

You haven't seen him elevate yet but he hasn't been given that chance yet either.

I want him for a certain price yes, doesnt mean its a 0 want that doesnt make sense. I wouldnt trade Risto for him because Risto is way more valuable. Even a 30 point player has his role

Who said anything about Risto? Im simply saying Scandella. Plus a players role gets defined as they develop. The kid is 22. he hasn't developed fully yet. Still growing that potential, hence why he's worth more than a UFA dman that lets be honest, isn't a big deal even when he is on his game.

@F50marco

Actually Marco has been the whipping boy of many Buffalo CFAG's many who value him so little that he should be bought out, or just moved off of the team with a pick. Just watch him play and he passes the eye test.
He has a good shot and last year ranked among all NHL top pairing defensemen with his 6 goals.
His first year in Buffalo, only Ristolainen played more minutes than he but his playing time has dropped not because his performance has waned but rather Buffalo's defense is greatly improved.
Now that I have that out of my system, I have seen trades of Roslovic and a 2nd for Ristolainen, so really doubt that this trade would ever happen.
He is playing much better than his D-man partner Jokiharju, and I have been a fan of him for some time but this is too much to expect. Let me add, I like Nelson, but he passed through waivers and could have been had for nothing.
Depending on the GM and the supply and demand at the TDL, Scandella will return a 3rd, 4th or 5th but not Roslovic.

In what world am I "Buffalo fans whipping boy" or has the early season success of the team given you all delusions of grandeur again?...

Perhaps you should watch him play . This new coaching staff has help several players regain their game . I am not saying he will get the return proposed . But he has been playing well

LOL, I am sorry, that you thought Marco was you.
BTW I seem to be blocked, did I say something that was offensive. If I did I apologize.
I think you are one of the most accurate commentators on this site and I cannot give you a "like".
