JT Miller 4 points in opener

Created by: BOLTLOVER1
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 10, 2019
Published: Oct. 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
JT Miller had 4 points in home opener for Vancouver .. wouldn't a 6ft plus 200 lb plus forward who can play both center and forward at any line in the top 9 be very useful for Tampa? Oh wait he can play special teams also and on a good LT contract for a 25 year old .. ugh

While I do like the return we got, let's make no mistake on why that trade occurred.. Tampa management gave over market NTC clause contracts to a bunch of role playing shrimps .. with Gourde the most puzzling after less than 50 career points for a 27 year old rookie .. what we are seeing already in 3 games .. continuing trend of end of last year and historic Columbus sweep.. makes this all the more appalling

Time to wake up and make moves that help your team; not just moves to manage a Cap problem you created
Trades
TBL
  1. Frolík, Michael
  2. Jankowski, Mark
Additional Details:
Top 9 players for Tampa on last year of contracts .. brings size and some experience
CGY
  1. Johnson, Tyler
Additional Details:
Tiny Tim from area and LT contract .. fits more culturally in Calgary and WESTERN conference .. this also saves Calgary 1M or so in Cap. If Johnson doesn't want to go then send him to Syracuse and then Seattle .. enough if enough with the shrimps

JTM has always been a good player. He was buried in the lineup in TB.

Having to trade him away is the price you pay for resigning and giving NTC to every player worth a damn over the past 5 years. Maybe next time give TJ a 3 year deal not a 7 year deal

Funny how you usually overpay for outside free agents coming in to an organization .. Tampa the opposite .. overpay home grown mediocre players to prevent free agents to make your team better... you are forced to do budget moves like Maroon and Shatterkirk .. moves I like BTW but there is no other options cause of internal shrimp overpayment

God im so glad i took Miller in the last round of both of my fantasy drafts this year. Really underrated player.

On another note, for the trade, due to tampa being so close to the contract cap you will have to add in an AHL player/prospect or 2 (flames have room). Would Spencer be available? Otherwise love the trade, TyJo would/should fit so nicely with tkachuks line

Very interesting! I think Bowman does that to a certain extent too. Seabrook, Bickell, and even a few lower contracts like Panik.

It was one game for Miller, let's see how his whole season goes. I wish Tampa had kept him as well and traded Gourde, but he was never going to get the top 6 minutes consistently that he deserved bc of both his own inconsistent play and bc Cooper doesn't know how to lead this team effectively. Johnson isn't waiving and we are never "burying him in Syracuse" as has been suggested multiple times by one person if a guy won't waive his ntc. Johnson may be lost to the expansion draft, but until then don't see him leaving Tampa. Gourde, Killorn and Palat all got fair contracts when they signed them and in order to get them to take those numbers, ntc's were added. Gourde may be a few hundred k overpaid, but nothing outrageous. It's the tradeoff for getting players on deals less than they would've received from other teams.

Your opinions are always good for a laugh on here Boltlover, since you spout the same hilarity everytime you post in any thread. You get back to us when any of your so called "overpaid internal shrimps" are buried in Syracuse or waive NTC's to go somewhere less appealing this season. Maybe next offseason at best and even then only Killorn is likely getting traded.
