Well the sharks don't have their first so that might be a non-starter

It probably starts with Ryan Merkley, but SJ could probably ask for something minor in addition to Daddy. AND truth be told. Where would Merkley even play on this team? His talents are wasted in SJ.

Nothing else regarding the Sharks is hot so the takes might as well be.

I'd be pretty apprehensive about grabbing Merkley. Guy seems to have all the talent in the universe, but seems to have a ton of locker room issues.

That's what was mentioned during the draft as to why he dropped to 21st. I guess I haven't been keeping up to see if new issues are arising or if he's finally matured and it's just the old ones he's trying to shake. Evander Kane used to be labeled serious locker room issues for a while too, but he seems to have pointed those towards the refs instead... wink

For sure. I think that he has the chance to be a really good NHL-er, and apparently at camp he was good.

I just think it's probably fairly telling that the Pete's took an L in their trade from last year to get rid of him this year. Truly though, the best spot for him is probably in London. A top class organization that *SHOULD* help him mature a bit.

110% agree. Especially considering London also saw BOTH Bouchard and Boqvist leave. He's the top dog on the back end.

Yeah no. Top prospects dont move for Rentals. Maybe if he was signed for 7 more years and was 4 years younger

Stone and muzzin did

***EDIT*** that wasn't a good response. Let me elaborate. To me...there are a lot of reasons why Merkley is the starting point.
A.) I don't mean starting point as if SJ needs to send more. I actually said in the 1st post that FLA should add something to it. FLA will likely be retaining...which is something. They're likely be adding another piece. And could very well be taking back someone like...IDK say Dell? So those are all benefits to SJ too
B.) Honestly...what's SJ going to do with him? He's a PP specialist. A GOOD ONE. But we're all going to the crazy bin if we think SJ will stop sending out EK and BB.
C.) It ties to B, but slightly different. SJ should be TRYING to sell this guy. Sell HIGH. He does have past character issues that appear to be behind him. He's CRUSHING it in London and PERFECTLY situated for success there. London lost Bouchard and Boqvist. No 1 single PP specialist raking in the points. It really is possible that he may never have a higher value than right now/two months from now.

We will absolutely not be selling him, do you realize the reputation he has? His value is very low right now and if he pans out he can be a number one D.Id rather do the 2015 Preds and hoard D men until they are amazing to trade away for top forwards. Unless your offering me a player like Laine right now, im not moving Merkley.
