I just have a hard time seeing Alexander Romanov being on the top line in the NHL...in 2020...when he's literally the 6th Dman on CSKA Moscow behind guys names Klas Dahlback, Nikita Nesterov, Bogdan Klsevelich, Mat Robinson, Alexel Marchenko. Out of all those names, the BEST player was a fringe AHL/NHL player. I don't get why MB isn't bringing him over to have him play serious minutes. I get that the KHL is a good league, but he still only gets 12 minutes a game and CSKA has him riding the pine in pressure situations.

***EDIT*** For the record...I would love to have Romanov in the Hawks system. I would just do literally everything I could to get him out of the KHL. AND I guess don't expect much right away. Since he's not really getting ice time, he'll need time in Laval to develop.

Source? Here's mine

https://en.khl.ru/players/25989/

Also now for the team comparison showing all of those players getting more ATOI and more Shifts per game

https://en.khl.ru/stat/players/851/all/cska/

Again, I'm not saying he's a bad player at all. I'd love to have him on the Hawks. BUT dang, some how he needs to see more ice time.

Romanov has a KHL contract, so he wouldn't be able to come over to the NHL even if he or Marc Bergevin wanted to. His contract expires at the end of this season, so he would be able to make the trip over to the NHL after this season. I wanted to inform you of that just in case you didn't know.

Another thing to consider is this is just his second year in the KHL. He didn't have a lot of ice-time last season mostly due to the fact that he was just 18 years old in a professional league of men. On top of that, he is playing for CSKA Moscow, arguably the biggest and most popular team in the KHL. I don't think that team of that roster and success level is going to deploy an 18 and now 19 year old defenseman in a really predominant role right away, especially considering the talent of the competition. Just like in the NHL, with time, he will grow and develop and will move up in the lineup.
