Why can't the Jets just waive Bitetto and let Niku play? Just because Niku is eligible to be sent down without having to clear waivers is not a reason to keep Bitetto in the NHL. Beaulieu can't heal fast enough.

It hurts my brain trying to rationalize Maurice's choice to play Bitetto over Niku. I guess the argument is that Bitetto is physical and has played pretty well. I dont think this is a long term thing and Niku should be up with this team soon.

Are they really stupid enough to waste a season of Heinola's ELC when they have Niku who is obviously ready for the NHL? They're similar players so why not slide Heinola's ELC, don't get me wrong I think Bitetto is terrible but if his accent is that important to locker room cohesion at least be smart about how you manage the roster.

Plus more time in the AHL does nothing for Nikus development and rushing Heinola probably isn't the best for his development, the kid is tiny so what's the rush.

I can see Niku replacing Heinola after 9 games...Maurice just wants to see him play...until then, Niku is the only one who doesnt have to clear waivers so they sent him down for game time. Both are smaller bodied D, and maurice doesn't want two small guys out there(4 including Pionk and Morrissey) so he plays Bitetto
