Its time to do it

Team Explanation
Seabrook has been a great Blackhawk for a very long time, but the time has come to accept that his hockey playing days are over. Honestly I can’t comprehend how this team would be worse off without him... the defense improves by subtraction, the cap hit is hard to manage, but we’re likely stuck with it for the rest of its duration
anyways. I also don’t see the value of his locker room leadership when the hawks are often caught slow and complacent. It’s time to accept your mistake Stan, buyout Seabrook next offseason.

I want to know from your perspective what is the purpose of buying him out if you only save 300k ? Is he that bad?

He's definitely not the biggest issue for this team. Gus and Koekkoek both looked brutal in their own end last night. Buying out Seabs isn't going to make anything better.

The answer is no. He's a $3M a year 3rd liner.

Koekko looked brutal, Gus looked so so defensively. He's not going to be a defensive player, but pairing him with Keith who's not traditionally a stay at home defender and asking Keith to take that role is the wrong move IMO. Keith looked so so both games defensively. 2 so so defensively D guys playing on the first line is a mistake. Gus should be playing with De Haan.

When DeHaan gets back I wouldn't mind seeing that pair. I just dont know if DeHaan should be playing 24 min a game. I do think Gus should still get those minutes though. Hes going to learn with more ice time. His defense wasnt terrible, but yes I'd like to see another level. With that said, it's still all good because his offense isnt taking a hit. He'll have 40 points by the TDL. 24 atoi and 40 pts and $600k cap hit...Cha ching! That's worth gold.

For sure, but I wouldn't. Rumor was the VAN was willing to take on Seabs last year just with a swap of 1sts. Just moving 7 spots in the 1st round.

Time will tell if that worked out. Dach may be great. Krebs was still available at 10. Podkolzin was available. Newhook was available. Maybe he felt getting Dach over those guys is worth it for now and long run.

By the time Seattle is in the league Seabs will have 3 years left on his contract so I think convincing them to take him is best option. Who knows though someone might be willing to take him. Stan was able to trade Rutta and Manning and Forsling.

There always seems to be a taker. Neal and Lucic were traded. Why not Seabs?
