Trade Sergachev .. sign Cirelli long term around 5M AAV .. Cernek about right .. keep Paquette.. keep Killorn .. the rest irrelevant.. try to get rid of Johnson and Gourde anyway you can and sign 2 to 3 UFAs from other teams .. a veteran D and an over 6 foot 200 lb top 6 scoring winger ... THAT how u win .. pretty simple

That’s not as simple as it sounds. If we trade Sergachev, there’s a gaping hole in our defense that we would need to fill. We could, as you said, sign a veteran, but that costs more money than would bridging Sergachev (and we can’t really spare any) and would represent a downgrade on talent. Beyond Stamkos, we have McDonagh, Maroon, and Hedman as experienced people to take a leadership role (and maybe Coburn), so I don’t know what a veteran would do. If we fall short again, it’s the coaching that needs to be changed most. Killorn is extremely underrated, but he’s still overpaid and I don’t know that I would put him as good as Johnson or Gourde, and he’s also the only one who can be easily moved because he doesn’t have a full NTC. Paquette is another player we want to keep but probably can’t afford. 2-3 UFAs requires quite a bit more cap than we have. I would love a big, scoring winger, but so would every team and there aren’t that many available. It’s not going to be a simple process at all.

Yeah, Sergachev isn't going anywhere, it would take a ridiculous overpayment for Brisebois to gut the defense like that(Shattenkirk will be a one and done here). Cirelli at 5 million is a large overpayment, 3-3.5 is where most reasonable 2020 agm models have him on a 3 year deal. Killorn will be traded bc of the m-ntc and they'll need the space, but it is unfortunate as he is underrated like you said I_Know. Doubt Edmonton is on Killorn's 16 team list but either way, no way will JBB trade him, Joseph and a 4th for just a 2nd?? That would be the worst move he has made as a GM, ainec.

Your crazy on Cirelli at 3M a year .. why dont people understand we do not need Sergachev and could get great value for him .. let me try this with the Forrests of the world .. he would return a veteran D or top 9 scorer with draft picks most likely .. so not only we will be tighter D for playoffs.. which is ONLY thing that matters.. we will avoid overpaying 5M for him and we get assets in return.. but I do agree he a way distant 3rd move after Gourde and Johnson .. they could have been worse against Torobto than Carolina .. it that bad .. I'll bet anyone they a health scratch this year

Cirelli will be bridged at 3-3.5, it's how this team functions with players coming off their elc. At the most he would get in the ~4 range but even that is higher than what he'll likely get. Sergachev will also bridge at 4-4.5 tops and with a couple of smaller cap casualties such as Killorn and Paquette, Tampa can make the cap work next year provided it is around 84 million. There is no veteran d available that is as cost controlled and as young as Sergachev out there that JBB is magically going to trade for with term attached for Serg. Serg has already shown improvement this year and most believe he will continue to only get better, not to mention he's barely 21. Johnson and Gourde haven't been as flashy as the top line, but they have been solid and made several plays both offensively and defensively in the Toronto game, even if they didn't end up on the score sheet.
