Mind numbing to me you think a team that has gone 2-1-2 against playoff teams needs to fire their head coach, trade one of their best defensemen, and their Vezina winning goalie. Absolute insanity. They're making the playoffs easy.

Now that being said. I have no problem trading Johansen since we have 100 great LHD, but would rather make it for a pick, or a young offensive prospect, or package him at next draft for a better pick.

I'd also be very interested in exploring a Holtby trade. I know it would never happen but it would be a game changer to get a return for Holtby before he walks away for nothing.

And I like Poolparty, but he isn't coming to play for us if he's in the AHL. I know Panik is getting off to a slow start but it happens. Con scored 1 point (assist) in his first 11 games with us. Takes time to adapt to a new team most the times.

Gudas leads all of our defensemen in Expect Goals For %. He's been absolutely fantastic, even dragging along a AHL dman in Lewington with him. Trading him would be absolutely stupid.



I don't know how many ways I can say it: WE ARE FIVE GAMES INTO THE SEASON! lol You understand that, right? To make such rash decisions 5 games into an 82 game season is insane. Who cares if we don't play a full 60, no team plays 82 games of full 60 minutes. It's impossible. In fact, Niskanen even said no team ever plays a full 60 even for 1 game unless there's no opponet. Crap happens. We have the 26th worst PDO in the league, we've been pretty damn unlucky.

Trends are usually the 15-20 game range. If we are playing like this at the 15-20 game range then I'll go crazy with you. But I have a feeling by the end of October everyone will be like "o so we were freaking out for no reason".

O gosh. I wish I could forget the Oates era.

A 5 game sample isn't nearly big enough to justify such drastic changes as the ones you've suggested here, calm down and give it another 5-15 games before blowing it up. At 5v5, the Caps are rocking a 96.8 PDO, 54.85 CF%, and 42.11 GF% against 53.47 xGF%. Instead of their usual trend of outperforming expected goals and having a high PDO, which has been a common criticism used against them in past years, they've been drastically underperforming offensively and in net. This is a team that has shot at least 8% 5v5 every year since Oates got fired, including a league best 10% last year, so I don't believe for a second that they're gonna shoot around 7% on the season just because that's what they've done in the first 5 games, just like I don't think McDavid and Draisaitl's scrappy band of AHLers is gonna keep up their 13% shooting percentage for a full season and go 82-0-0.
