The three problems so far

Created by: SpaghettiPasta
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 12, 2019
Published: Oct. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Taveres's line's slow start. If a line is supposed to be your first line it has to preform. No one on that line has played impressive so far. Probably break up that line.
2. Starting on time. The Leafs need to be prepared at the start of every game. This is on Babcock.
3. Defense. It is no secret that the Leafs do not have enough DFDs. There definitely needs to be one next to Reilly. This is nothing against Ceci, but he isn't fit to be next to Reilly. Either trade for a DFD, or put a more defensive d-man there.

Okay. I haven't seen Hunt play, I just heard good things about him.

Hunt is not a DFD. Brodin, Pateryn, Seeler, Soucy, and Suter are the Wild's DFD.

I don't understand the logic that Reilly's partner has to a good defensive Dman. Maybe Reilly should be taking on some responsibility of being a good defensive Dman.

I agree with you and also believe that if/when Rielly takes chances at offensive opportunities, there needs to be a DFD there covering for him in such situations.

A good DFD like Zaitsev would be a good fit in Toronto. Don't think Ottawa would want to part with him tho

Yeah, don't know why Toronto has never tried to trade for him yet.

The world that understands contract value. And defense. And that the Rielly/Ceci pairing is not good at all.

Ceci could be marginally better than Holl but Holl appears to be smarter and play a simpler game more in line with what Rielly apparently needs. Not to mention he is six and a half times cheaper. If he makes a mistake, you look at his salary and say so what. Ceci however, gets roasted.

Yea, I think Reilly can be competent defensively . It's a question of him wanting to. Maybe some fans who I think were unfairly harsh on Hainsey will appreciate Hainsey now as he allowed Reilly to play recklessly. But somehow many fans think Ceci (the new whipping boy) think Ceci is to blame when Reilly has been out of position so many times early in the season

As much as we all mocked and b.tched Hainsey, seems like you are on the point here.....

Rielly is a rover, that's where he's had success and he doesn't seem comfortable with Ceci yet. One thing is for sure, Rielly hasn't been as good yet as last year and Hainsey playing a more stay at home style has something to do with it.
