The only logical Turris trade

Created by: Wqrrior
Team: 2019-20 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 13, 2019
Published: Oct. 13, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
NSH
  1. Okposo, Kyle ($250,000 retained)
  2. 2021 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Conditional 4th to Nashville if Turris scores more than 50 points in a season or 15 points greater than Okposo before the 2021 draft.
2.
NSH
    Why does NSH do this?

    - Turris hasn't been given a chance on the Predators. He still has talent, but it isn't being used. If someone who brings a physical presence that fits the role of a fourth line guy better can come in and make some use of the dollars being dispensed, then Nashville is immediately a better team.
    BUF
      Why Buffalo does this?

Okposo has had a decent start, but he will not be played in that role forever. His ability to rebound beyond a bottom six forward is more unlikely than Turris. Buffalo also is in need of centers. MarJo might be taking the role of 2nd C, but he is better suited on the wing. Skinner-Turris-MarJo is immediately a better line. Even if Turris keeps his current form, Casey can be slotted up OR Turris can play RW. Turris is the better overall player in the trade nonetheless and does more to improve the Sabres now.

This is his 3rd season as a Pred. God I really want him to pull through. He was such a great player for such a long time in Ottawa, and he thrived as our 1C after Spezza left.

There is 1 big problem. Seattle is comming.
Okposo has NTC contract, so that means NSH need to protect him. And in my opinion that makes his contract much, much worse, than Turris one.
Also Turris still better than Okposo, even at Preds 4th line with 12 mins ice-time.
I am ok with Okposo and that concept of trade, but BUF should give much more. I mean they need to add picks/retain more money/players.
Or...Okposo can remove NTC option from his contract? - That allows to do not protect him at expansion draft and then it is much better.
Or here is example of new one:
      Okposo(1m retained)+2021 4th=Turris+2021 4th
4th conditional picks based on how good Kyles will be in the future. This picks can evolve into 2021 2nd.

I thought ntc were reopened when a player got traded, it was up to the team whether they kept the clause in tact. Also, i thought nmc required protection for expansion, but ntc did not.

Although everyone keeps saying Yuri's doesn't get a chance I disagree, he would be given a chance in training camp and if he is doing nothing to prove himself then what can Nashville really do?

You don't have to protect players with NTCs. Only with NMCs.

You don't have to protect a NTC, you do have to protect a NMC though iirc
