4 mil defenseman who is healthy scratched, 3.75 mil defenseman who should be scratched, trading horny for a younger faster cheaper version of him. Aston-Reese lost his job to Lafferty

Gudbranson is an everyday nhler. The pens just happen to have 9 NHL capable dmen. Someone has to sit. Sure you don't want 4 million in the press box, but before the season is over the pens will be very happy to have him.

Johnson has been very good so far to start the season. Physical. Defensively responsible and sound. And has moved the luck well. Get over his contract and actually watch him play.

Hornqvist has been absolutely fantastic so far this season. Josh Anderson has zero points and a minus 4. Why on Earth would a GM trade the better player and a 1st for Josh Anderson. GTFO with that garbage.

ZAR is a great depth forward that is physical, kills penalties, and has enough skill to chip in and move up and down the lineup. How does moving him for a 6th round pick improve the team now or in the future?

How does any of these moves make the team better now or down the road?

Get a grip on your life. It is clearly spiralling out of control.

lmao if you would rather have hornqvist over anderson, you need to get a grip on your life. JJ is still terrible. And EG is nothing special factoring his contract

How has JJ been terrible this year?
Please elaborate.

Just watch the games. He always out of position and gets beat. You look at his hits and think he's good. Anderson is playing on a horrible team and still puts up solid numbers. Faster, younger, less injuries, etc. Nobody other than you would take Hornqvist over Anderson

Anderson has zero points and was just put on the IR. There has never been a season were Anderson out performed hornqvist.

Johnson is not always out of position. You are being biased because as soon as that contract was signed the majority of people wanted him to fail just to prove a point. He could turn into Bobby Orr and everyone would still say he sucks.

How so? You are failing to present any logic at all.

Jack Jonhson does nothing besides hit people. Josh Anderson is on a horrible team and puts up similar numbers to hornqvist, switch them 2 and Anderson is a consistent 30 goal scorer with crosby. Anderson is younger and faster with far less injury concerns. Just because someone doesn't have a point in 2 games, doesn't decrease their value. Anderson had 27 goals last year (more than hornqvist) and 47 points (more than hornqvist).

News flash. Teams need physical dmen on their team to be successful. You can't have 6 offensive dmen on your roster. The pairing of Marino and Johnson has looked really good. But let's just ignore that.

The blue jackets had more wins last year than the penguins. Yet you say they are a terrible team. The blue jackets are a horrible team this year. The past 4 years they have been a very good team. Last year Anderson played 13 more games than hornqvist. Their points per game numbers are very close. That might indicate that hornqvist gets injured more, but right now (the time frame that matters most) Anderson is injured. He has zero points and is a minus 4. Hornqvist is healthy, has 3 goals, 4 points, and is a plus 2.

How is this horrible logic?

You contradict yourself every other sentence to try and fit your narrative. Also since when were Dumoulin and Pettersson offensive defenseman ?

How have I contradicted myself?
They are two way dmen. You need a mix of different types of players to be successful. All pens fans want are future hall of famers. Everyone else to them is terrible.

You say Anderson is injured now which is the rime frame that matters yet you bring up his past stats. You also have yet to factor in all the cap relief this gives the pens who need to sign murray, McCann , Schultz, galchenyuk.

I also bring up his stats from now. Zero points and a minus 4. And nothing from his past to indicate being better than hornqvist.
There is no reason to deplete this year's team and the future right now to gain cap space for next year. Worry about next year when it comes. Worry about now.
You both are saying I am trying to fit my narrative. You are completely ignoring what is going on now to fit yours.

But the trade suggestion was not Anderson for Hornqvist, it was Anderson for Hornqvist and a 1st. I would take Hornqvist and a 1st over Anderson every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Hornqvist is the better player on the ice. To suggest otherwise simply means that you do not watch many games. Anderson is tough and is not a schlub by any means though. But going from Hornqvist to Anderson is a step down. Anderson is a lower cap this year, but he is an RFA with arbitration rights. That means that the cap aid could be very short lived indeed. Also, as much as it might hurt some people to admit it... Hornqvist is much more of a leader on the Pens than anyone that has a letter on their jersey. Yes, anyone. The leadership value of Malkin or Letang is laughable. Crosby does inspire through action, but is a quiet "leader". Hornqvist gives every bit as much effort as Crosby, if not more, and is vocal.

So, if you want to get out from under Hornqvist's contract for cap reasons, there is some value there, but the arbitration RFA status undermines that somewhat. There is not going to be a (single pick) 1st, or a 2nd, involved though. If for discussion sake you want to say something like Hornqvist + 2nd for Anderson + 3rd, that could be discussed, but Hornqvist +1st for Anderson is just silly.

On a side note.
The penguins can't go through a full season of teams acting like MIN did last game. Specifically Foligno.
We all know that happened because there was no one on the ice to set his ass straight.
Mainly because Guddy didn't dress.
We can't pair Guddy with JJ. But JJ has played fairly well. I'm hoping well enough to get him traded.
It is what it is.
I think the right trade is to dish off Schultz and give Marino his spot. Attach JJ to that trade.
Hornqvist has had a good year. But I think getting Anderson is a good move. They need more players like that. Big, fast, physical.
The team needs push back that can actually play.
