Edmonton can't fit that under their cap. They only have $ 5 million so you're going to need some pieces going back to NJ.

I don't think Holland is interested in Simmonds, he doesn't fit Tippetts player profile. Also, it's a building year for Edmonton not a Cup run year, so I highly doubt Holland is willing to give up the 1st and the 2nd, especially considering that the 3rd is likely going to Calgary already.

If the oilers are pretty much guaranteed to make the playoffs at the deadline (if they keep playing the way they are) and NJD aren't going to make the playoffs, this could happen. I doubt that that happens though
