Considering how much the Leafs gave up for 4th line centres a few years ago I could see it happening. Only if they keep Sandin in the AHL for the remainder of the season

Those trades were made by Lou, I don't see Dubas doing the same. He knows how much we need those 2nds now that we don't have a 1st.

You’re also missing the point that if they kept Sandin in the NHL this year they would have had to protect him for the expansion draft with Seattle. Now that he has a year less of NHL games he may not meet the minimum requirements to be protected. Now you would be able to protect Reilly, Dermott and one of Barrie or Muzzin (if they stay of course) and 7 forwards. Over protecting 8 players.

Yes winning now is important but this move sets them up for more long term success.

But they still need an NHL defenseman to fill in the spot Sandin occupied. Marincin just isn't that, Demelo would be a decent fit, cheap and he's not too bad of a player

He’s very cap friendly and will be a serviceable defenseman. Idk how you argue that he’s not worth a late 2nd round pick. You could make it a 3rd that turns into a 2nd if they get out of the 1st round? That way you only give up a 3rd for him? The market isn’t set yet so at this point a 2nd seems high but you never know. If teams have a lot of injuries they’ll for sure get a 2nd easily. Regardless of you charts he’s still pretty solid dman

He is a serviceable 3rd pair dman getting 3rd pair Dman money. That is not worth a 2nd round pick.

Leafs wouldn't need to protect Sandin if he played this year. He would have had to play last year to be exposed.

Boyle is a “4th line center” and preds gave up a 2nd for him. Your opinion is getting in the way of logic. If a team needs a solid defenseman and they don’t have cap space he is the perfect fit. Serviceable is the keyword. Another way to look at this is a defensively reliable player with a very very cheap contract. He’s been able to play in the top 4 but he’s best suited for 3rd pairing. Ceci is actually worse than demelo based off you chart/website. Does that make him a 7/8 dman?

Ceci has arguably been the worst dman in the league over the last few seasons. He has been better in Toronto but he is also a 3rd pair guy. That doesn't mean I'd pay a 2nd round pick for Ceci, or demelo, or any player like that. They are worth a 4th at most.

And demelo has never been a defensively reliable dman. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about, as can be seen by your attempt to change the subject

Haha ugh you’re one of those people. I’m not going to argue with you bc you have an ego issue. If you’re too stupid to understand demelo value I can’t help you. Simply if the sens wait till the deadline they’ll likely get 2nd-3rd for him depending on how healthy teams are gojng down the stretch. Demelo has similar numbers to dumo (top pairing dman for the penguins). Hes known as their best defensive defenseman. I even verified this on the player tool you submitted. I did t change the topic either just giving you examples. Maybe next time I’ll submit a picture to help you understand. Words are hard

Thank you for proving that you have no idea what these charts are saying, or what is going on in general.
