Description
Hawks looked good offensively. The transition game looked clean and the offensive zone set up was flawless. EDM didn't get many scoring chances but the ones they did get were breakaways and from high percent areas. Chalk that up to the defense.

Standouts:

Saad- While trying to cement his role in the Hawks top 6, Saad looked great playing on the third line with Kubalik and Kampf. Saad hit the post twice, once after dangling through EDM defenseman Ethan Bear

Shaw- Personally, I think Shaw is the most fun player to watch on the hawks, especially last night. His huge hit on EDM's defenseman Joel Pearson set the tone for the rest of the night. Shaw did exactly what he gets paid to do. Energize the team, and crowd the net. When Shaw wasn't blowing up people in the corners, he was battling in front of the net.

Caggiula- Playing against your former team always makes games more meaningful. Caggiula played a great game. He was flying all over the ice even getting set up for a breakaway. Caggiula is a very underrated speedy skater with a big frame but needs to work on staying calm under pressure and not just throwing the puck away.

Strome- It seems like every game Strome becomes more and more confident with his game. While his speed is still lacking, Strome's vision, puck handling, and face-offs are continuing to get better. He assisted on Kane's snipe right off the face-off. The reason for his success in Chicago is simple. He doesn't have the pressure he had in Arizona. Strome was supposed to be the face iff the franchise for the yotes. He dominated in juniors and in the AHL where he was still never the "face of the franchise". Strome played with McDavid who took much of the spotlight off of him in juniors. Strome has the skillset but lacked the mature mentality to cope with the pressures.

Dissapointments:

deHaan- Mishandles, turnovers, and slow skating. That's how I would describe his play last night. I am hoping that is due to him recovering from injury.

DeBrincat- Oddly quiet game for the cat. He had some good opportunities but ended up rocketing them over the net. Even though its been a small sample, DeBrincat has started to look like a Ovechkin (not in a good way). No back checking, shooting no matter what, standing still, letting others drive the play are all things that could be seen last night. That being said, the cat was surprisingly physical racking up 3 hits. He seemed lost without Strome and Kane feeding him the puck.

That's all for today. Please leave feedback and let me know if I should continue with Blackhawks analysis

Tend to agree. I didn't think either Debrincat nor DeHaan played poorly. A few miscues by Debrincat as you mention. He shot wasn't on target yesterday, but everyone has those days. I think he's feeling out Toews a bit. Strome defers to Debrincat where Toews likes to have the puck. They need to work on chemistry, but all in all I was fine with him. DeHaan's always been on the slower side. He's a defensive Dman. Kubalik plays RW and Saad plays LW despite with Capfriendly has. Murphy to me, should stay with Keith. Gus will get his minutes through the PP. Murphy and Keith were solid defensively even up against McDavid/Drai line.

Toews kinda looks terrible in all aspects of his game so far in the season. Im also starting to see the hawks as a 4 line team with no distinct top 6 or bottom 6.
