I think it's more likely that Dach plays wing vs Strome. Dach's just a young kid. I don't think he'll fair well as the #2C right now.

It was just an idea to keep Cat and Strome together and to put Dach into a good spot between Kane and Shaw who could in theory play center on that line.

Dach is likely 3C to limit his minutes and let him learn between Saad and Kubalik though breaking up that line with Kampf taking a big step forward this year is tough. If you put Dach on RW2 (because he’s terrible at face offs) then Shaw will need to be moved to LW1 probably. And lastly that means Nylander/Perlini are RW4 which I don’t think is the best spot for them but this is what it is.

Dach is likely 1RW with Toews and DeBrincat. That's where they tried him out in practices and it makes sense that he starts there. Splitting Kampf and Saad is a bad idea, I'd love to see Caggiula on that line and give Kubalik a shot in the top 6. His one timer is phenomenal and he has an excellent release on his wrist shot. Nylander was RW4 last night, it's not ideal, but there's no spot for him anywhere further up the line up. Smith should be sent to Rockford to relieve some cap space, he's not a big piece on this team.

Cat and Strome were not together last night and the hawks won. I think we're going to see them split up more this season to get balance throughout the lineup. If Kampf can consistently be a shutdown 3C this season, that'll allow for Colliton to use the Toews line as an offensive line rather than a shut down line, and this will allow him to have much more scoring opportunities. Meaning DeBrincat will still get his goals, as long as that 3rd line can be effective.

I was assuming Toews Kane would be together meaning only open RW spot would be on 2nd line.

Dach’s biggest issue according to Colliton right now is that he can’t really keep up with the pace of the team. That alone isn’t great but this team isn’t even that fast. So he’s still appearing to need some recovery or at least put in some hustle. He is in Rockford right now on a conditioning stint.

I gotta agree with exo on this one. Dach’s biggest knocks are his lack of faceoff ability mixed with his lack of speed at this level. As I said above, colliton’s biggest concern is that he isn’t matching the pace of the rest of the team. However, if (and apparently when) he does get his chance, they should really keep him on the wing. I’m not so sure he’s ready to be an NHL center.

Yeah I think Colliton is splitting them up to see if he can find a better balance in the top 6.
