Sim League

Created by: Vanilla_Icing
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 15, 2019
Published: Oct. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Moves made before year 1 of a 10 year sim. All trades were agreed upon by both team owners. League has no salary cap and the entry draft consists of only one round. UPDATE: The team was 4th in the Metro at the deadline, 2 points out of the playoffs, so I brought back Jordan Staal and exchanged Rust and a pick for Leivo and Stecher. Then CBJ offered me Bjorkstrand for Namestnikov and I couldn't refuse that. I then reacquired Bjugstad from Columbus at the deadline for Leivo. Somehow missed playoffs, all moves after the Goose deal are at the start of season 2.

So is a sim league played through NHL 20? Pick a team make trades and the then computer sims the actual games?

I've never played and it is why I'm asking.

We have one guy running it in season mode while controlling all the teams. The rest of us are acting as the GMs for those teams. When we make a trade or sign someone, the guy running it (commissioner), makes the trade in season mode. Since he technically controls each team, every trade goes through. For the draft, the commissioner will send us the prospects list, and we'll basically manually add them to the teams who pick them and then start another file in season mode with the updated rosters and ratings.

It's a kid. Couldn't decide if he wanted to tank or contend right away, so he ended up with this bad combination of the two that I happily exploited. The Goose trade was a bit understandable since Bjugstad is younger, and Petterson does have the potential to be a top 4 dman plus the other prospects, but man, other than that, there's not a whole lot. He's made some other head scratching moves to other teams too. It's only a matter of time before the Western Conference realizes he's basically handing out freebies, the East has already noticed.
