The fact Chris Stewart got a 1 way contract gives me hope that I will one day in fact also get a 1 way contract in the NHL

Stewie is a feel good story, but he was one of the worst possession forwards in the league in his previous stint here. A one-way is concerning, as it might mean they intend to keep him up with the big club; he should not be anything more than a 14th forward if you're desperate.

LMAO ... OK there bud.

1) All of the Leafs key forwards are already signed through next season.
2) All of the Leafs press-boxers are already signed through next season.
2) Anderson + Rielly + Sandin + Liljegren are signed through next season.

SIGNED FORWARDS
Hyman - Matthews - Nylander
Johnson - Tavares - Marner
T.Moore - Kerfoot - Kapanen
N.Petan - Gauthier - Agostino

SIGNED DEFENSE
Reilly - Sandin - Liljegren

SIGNED GOALIES
Anderson - Joe Woll

SIGNED PRESS-BOX
Agostino - Kossila + (Gravel or Holl)

2020-21 SEASON TOTALS

Signed Roster = 20 Players
Team Cap-Hit = $70,500,000
Salary Cap Est = $84,500,000
------------------------------------------
Remaining Cap Space = $14,000,000

Required Signings = 3 Defensemen (Dermott = $2,000,000 / Muzzin = $5,000,000 / Barrie = $7,000,000)
Total Cost = $14,000,000

And Toronto really doesn't have to sign Barrie if he wants too much money.
They could also trade Kappy + Hyman for help on defense or cap-space.
Especially if Mikheyev + Moore keep playing as well as they are.

Go check it for yourself though ... I mean, were definitely on the right website.

A caveat to this: Stewie's C with Minnesota was Tyler Graovac in 2016-17 and Matt Cullen in 2017-18, and they also sucked possession-wise. With Stewie no longer stapled to them, he might put up some better numbers.

Fair. He also played in England last year and scored 0.57PPG.

I'm well aware of the Leafs situation. There's a couple things you are missing. It's almost like you just copied and pasted the Leafs on here, but it doesn't matter if you want to waste your time like that.

Two of the defensemen you just mention are rookies. One was just sent down to the minors and I belive the other is already in the minors right now(not sure) either way they aren't ready to be full time top 4 dmen. Another thing, with Tavares, Matthews at 11m Marner at 10.9, and Nylander at 7m, and a few others arpund 3-5m they aren't going to be able to fill there defensive holes. They MIGHT have cap space to resign Barrie, but that still leaves 2 empty spots in the top 4. Still have to fill 1 spot on thr 3rd pair.

My point being the forward group is intact and good, but there's no defense. So when that blueline is filled with AHLers you will know what I am talking about. I know all this is a lot to take in and almost like I'm speaking a different language to you, but it takes time. Learning hockey happens with time. Have a good day.

A good locker room guy, and a big (slow) body for the rotating in on the fourth line, but I'm not sure why the Flyers chose to give him a deal when there are better options still out there as UFA's. Personally I would have preferred to sign Boyle if I were a Flyers fan

When did I say Sandin + Liljegren need to be top 4 defensemen next year?

If they re-sign exactly who I said above (you didn't argue the numbers?) ... the Leafs end up with:

Muzzin - Barrie
Rielly - Dermott
Gravel - Holl
Sandin - Lilly

Literally everything you just said is meaningless ... LMAO ... Quoting 4 players salaries doesn't make a factual argument.

They can easily afford the above defense by losing Ceci ... and they can improve on it by trading Kapanen or Hyman.

BTW Sandin was only sent down so they don't burn a year of his ELC (and won't have to expose him to Seattle now).

We already have Reilly + Barrie to play both power-plays this year ... so why play him 12 mins a night when he could play 20 in the AHL.

Sandin's already better than Marincin + Gravel (both of them could be re-signed for cheap though).

Liljegren is probably better than them both too though.

Dude.. Barrie is going to want 7.5-8m and Muzzin probably 5.5m( i think Muzz would take a discount though ) but realistically that's what it would look like. So you are telling me that the Leafs could afford 13m in cap for 2 dmen if they trade Kapanen and Hyman? Ok.

I'd say there's a 1% chance Barrie re-signs w/ the Leafs...maybe less. He's gonna want $7M+ and I don't see how Dubas can fit him and Rielly in w/o moving out Nylander.

Rielly contract last for another 3 seasons ... so maybe they'll have to trade Nylander in summer 2022 ... lol

Barrie might also take a lower cap-hit in exchange for an 8 year contract ... since no one else can offer it.

$6,500,000 x 8 years = $52,000,000
$7,000,000 x 7 years = $49,000,000

That is ... unless Barrie's certain that he'll be worth $3,000,000+ per year when he's 37.

But you need to ensure that you have the cap space for Rielly when his contract doesexpire. He could def. cost $10M+ AAV. I just don't think the Leafs can win in the playoffs w/ 3-4 of their top six D on ELC's or minimum contracts. And that's what'll happen if they re-sign Barrie.
