if the plan is to tank you should probably focus on being sellers, Tatar and Danault would be the 2 that will probably bring the most value without hurting your core for next year

As long as your 32 year old goalie is making 10.5 million for 7 years and your 36 year old defensemen is making 7.8 million for 6 more years, you arent rebuilding.

Montreal is "middle" team. Makes absolutely no sense to tank. Gee, you're trying to get your players especially your young players better. A playoff run and especially making the making the playoffs gives the players confidence going into next season.
