The Barzal number is just arbitrary lol, just the general idea of a contract somewhere in the 8.5-9 million range if he gets a long term deal. Love to get him on a 7 or 8 million dollar deal but considering thats what Lee got paid and Barzal is definitely better than Lee, it's not likely.

What are your opinions on Barzal's value?

Like this years RFA's I wouldnt expect anything longer than 6 years tbh

TBH expect it to be in 9.5x6 range.

I could see 3 years, I could see 5, I could see 8. It will be interesting to see how LL conducts business with his RFA compared to Dubas, considering his former place or employment.

Personally, I think $9-$9.5 million for 5-6 years

He needs to prove that his rookie season wasn't a fluke. If he repeats his 62 point performance from last year I don't see him getting more than about $7M x 6. In this scenario I see him going for a 2-year bridge deal for around $5.5M.

Yea the Barzal looks about right. But what about the Pulock extension? Ladd may not be on LTIR next season....even in the second half of this season.

I think it can be any of these three:

- Three years, $21.75M ($7.25M cap hit, $10M QO)
- Six years, $64.5M ($10.75M cap hit)
- Eight years, $92M ($11.5M cap hit)

I personally hope it's the bridge deal. I think they're genius.

Pulock I think will get a six-year deal, $6.5M cap hit.

Lou did an interview a few months back (I believe it was a recap of Day 1 of FA) where he said Barzal will get term and dollars, while Pulock and Toews will get more term than dollars. To me that says the following:

Barzal - 7/8 years with 8-10m AAV at least. I don't see Barzal breaking the 10m mark, unless he has a Marner-esque type season this year.
Pulock - 7/8yrs 6-7m AAV - Probably more like 6m, but I can see him getting a Trouba like deal if he continues to progress off last year points-wise.
Toews - 7yrs 4-5m AAV - I can see Toews signing a deal similar to what Girard just signed with Colorado.

I think NYI will over pay to get him signed for 8 years. 11-11.25 AAV

I like Barzal, but d*mn that's a huge overpay.

I’m assuming he gets 80-90 pts this season - last year he was adapting to Barry Trotz system.

Even if he puts up 90 pts I don't see him getting 11m+. Marner didn't break 11m after putting up 94pts and Matthews only got 11.6m because he's a center who scores. If Barzy puts up 90pts I see him sliding in right around 10-10.5m. Now, if he goes on to score 30+ goals and has 90+ pts, then I can see him getting 11m (maybe). And if he does have that kind of season, I can see the Isles going the Point way and signing Barzal to a 3 year bridge deal and then giving him his big contract once Ladd, Boychuk, Leddy, Clutter and Komarov are off the books.
