Description
1st trade : Habs are struggling with Mete on the first pair since 2 years now. He's not a bad player, but he's definitely not a top pairing dman. I love his skating and his first pass, but IMO he will progress a lot more facing less-quality players on a 3rd pair than playing against top lines with a lot of pressure. Leddy also has good skating and offensive raise so he could complete Weber well. I would trade Tatar since he's not part of our ''core''. The heart of the teams is Danault, Gallagher, Domi, Drouin, KK. Tatar is very good and shows a lot of chemistry with Gally and Phil, but he's not essential. Guys like Byron or Lehkonen can take his spot and the line will still be very good defensively. Drouin has too much potential for me to trade him.

2nd trade : Might not be fair value (I really not know how would cost Virtanen). I guess this trade would balance the lines, every lines would have a right-handed forward. Plus, Claude Julien seems to be in love with Weal, making him play top minutes, PP minutes....but why??!! Weal is not an offensive players (25 goals in career). I think coach places him on PP because he's right-handed and it brings another dimension that only Armia can bring too. Adding Virtanen would replace Weal on a more familiar role (4th line or healthy scratch), and it would place Virtanen with PP minutes so he will have a lot of chances to improve. Virtanen also add size to the lineup.

Basically I think those trades are too place Mete and Weal on the right chair. Mete isn't a top 2 dman and weal isn't a top 6 + pp forward.

Isles say yes. I'd add more for Drouin, but I'd be very happy with this. It makes so much sense for both teams.

Habs won't trade Drouin. but if they would consider it, they would rather look to Toews+ or Pelech.

Whoa, forget that. Then Leddy for Tatar is good. Tatar actually makes more sense for the Isles than Drouin since he'll come off the books faster, but Drouin is the better player.

Would you do Leddy and a mid-range asset for Tatar and Kulak?

Not sure why habs would do that, since Kulak's been very good for us in the end of the last season.

I think Leddy for Tatar 1v1 is the best deal for both teams.

Just because Julien likes grinding depth forwards with limited offensive upside doesn't mean that you have to give up a good pick and prospect to get another one.

Okay it's an overpay from habs.... I wasn't sure what is Virtanen's Value. Maybe a 3rd only? Or 3rd + Hudon (or B prospect)t?

Anyways, my point is that Virtanen is more talented and bigger than Weal, it would be an instant improvment having him on the team, and maybe on the powerplay.
Jake has been playing below expectations since he was in the NHL, but maybe a change of air would do him good, it's a good bet to take, he's cheap, sized and still has good middle 6 potential.

I think you'd really regret that Canucks trade, Ylonen looks like a great prospect with top 6 potential while Virtanen is looking like a 3rd line winger at best.
