Lafreniere might be the better player, but if we're tanking I'd rather take Byfield probably even at 1OA if we win the lottery (which isn't happening). We have a million LW's, even after you traded a bunch away. Boldy is a LW, Donato should be at LW, Kaprizov can play both but it's really TBD what side he plays better in the NHL.

Also, why would we pay a backup goalie $4.4M?

Hartman may have taken in dumb penalty last night, but that's not enough to merit trading him for a guy looking to be a career AHLer. Also I'd rather keep Fiala over Donato. Fiala turns the puck over a lot, but fixing that is easier to fix than Donato's skating.

Based off of Bruce's frustrations with Fiala and Guerin's comments, I'm wondering if Fiala's days are numbered in forest green if he still turns the puck over a lot when he's back from being scratched. Guerin's recent interview with LeBrun gave some interesting insight. I'm paraphrasing here, but Guerin said something like "the team and culture I'm trying to build is one based on team effort, everyone has to be working together and we don't have room for players who try to do everything himself". Well, the reason Fiala turns the puck over so much is he tries to do everything himself and not utilize his teammates. It's a shame because he's probably our most skilled forward.

Gustafsson would be a great addition if Montreal doesn't get him first.

Patrick would be a great addition, but I don't think Zucker and a non-first would get him. Maybe a swap of firsts and a second.

I can understand your signing Greiss so that he would take over for Dubnyk when the latter's contract expires, but then why sign him for only 2 years? As @TanSor implies, signing him for $4.4MM doesn't make sense unless you plan to play him for at least 5 years.
