That Brodie trade is gross unless Winnipeg's second is almost a first (which despite their early struggles I don't think it will be). I get that some people hate Brodie for his glaring brain farts but overall he's still a solid #3D with the wheels to break up plays and join the rush and a good first pass when he doesn't have time to overthink. A contending team like the Flames should not be moving him for futures.

I keep thinking how much better this team would be if we got Zucker at last year's deadline so I like that you've circled back on that deal (though a 2020 first I'd say has more value than our 2019 one given the rumoured depth of this year's class).

I don't necessarily disagree but I think that a team at most would pay a second for him as a rental. In the post above ideally you wait until Valimaki proves he's back to full speed before moving Brodie, one of him or Hamonic walks at the end of the year and if you can get a bit of draft capital back for him I think it's ideal.

I love the Zucker deal, cost certainty until 2022-23, speed on the right side that is seriously lacking and great middle six depth that can slide up if need be. Would love to see it get done.

Sorry, but Columbus will pass on that. Janakowski isn’t anything that we don’t already have and Gillies is just another NHL backup/AHL starter, again we have that. The second is nice but unless it turns into something more if Bjorkstrand does good or if you make if far enough in the playoffs Columbus isn’t getting any better now or in the future.

I could see another conditional based on Bjorkstrand's performance as well as upgrading Gilles to Parsons, I don't quote know why but I would have no problem with the Flames overpaying for Bjorkstrand if need be. I think he'd be great in Calgary.
