If i'm the Devils I'd do this trade yesterday

It looks pretty good for both teams, actually. Money would be so tight and they probably won't be able to re-sign Hamilton in 2021, but still.

Two Thoughts

1) Hall is an excellent player but would push CAR over the top as legit contenders
2) That's a huge haul to give up for him. You might be able to pull Hall + another depth forward for that

No, IMO they should. They have tons of cap coming off the books before Svech and Dougie are up for extensions. I don't, however, see the Devils trading Hall within the division. They see themselves as future contenders and probably would want to send Hall out West if they fall out of contention.

Carolina looks so good right now I can't help but feel like they should leave well enough alone until a problem actually emerges.

You can never have too much talent. Tampa tied record for wins last year, and got swept. This would make Carolina sick for years to come

I agree with this philosophy. I just think that if he doesn't re-sign with the Devils, Hall is sign-and-traded to a team like Colorado and well away from other Metro teams. Canes can still come out of the deadline with a re-upped Haula and focus next off-season on getting a Nylander and/or a Labanc if one of TOR/SJS is in a bad cap crunch.
