And i also suspect Mikheyev is gonna ask for more than 1,5 millions (according to his season of course)

I tend to agree with you, perhaps it might just be cheaper to hold on to Muzzin or something and get another 3rd pairing guy for like 1.5 or 2mil

You're probably $2 million under what Pietrangelo will get, And he's probably staying in St Louis any ways.

if Mikheyev puts up 40+ pts, he will ask for 2.5-3 mill on a 2 year deal.

I mean, there is an easy way to make it work you know. Hell I made it (just) work, paying Pietro a reasonable amount with an extremely conservative 82.5 cap (league is saying it might be 84.5).

Just don't overpay for your depth and you are fine.

With the Blues, he probably will get offered a deal very similar to OEL, and which would be a home team discount 100%. On the open market, he could break $10 million AAV. If Toronto has any shot at landing him (and I personally think there money is better spent on re-signing Muzzin and others), it will take max term, making him 37 years old when the contract expires. Even if the Leafs could convince him to take a hometown discount (different than home team, obviously :P) the number will probably be around $9.5 million AAV over 7 years to get it done. Unless the salary cap drastically increases next season, which I don't believe it will, I just believe he's priced himself out of Toronto. Now, if the Leafs were willing to trade William Nylander to make some room, well that's another issue.

Dude is playing 0,75ppg right now with no top line and no powerplay point. Now i know the season is still young, but if he keeps up the pace and want to afford is soup, he'll probably ask for something around 3,5 millions imo

he's a rfa without arbitration rights as of now-- is he eligible for an offer sheet?

It's a big if, but if he does well then he can just leave. He'll have given us 1 year of good hockey and can go earn his money.
