Something New for Left D go west to the Desert Dogs

Created by: RoadRunner72
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 17, 2019
Published: Oct. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Leddy or Gostisbehere seem the best options to strengthen the left side for next couple of years, but assuming those eastern teams don't want to deal with the Habs as they're chasing the same wild card spots, let's go west and try something different

Arizona needs some scoring depth, and the age and AAV of the trade pieces is similar. Does Chychrun project to be a reasonable #1 LD option for a few years ?? Is value reasonable?
Trades
MTL
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
Additional Details:
Arizona get two young NHL-ready pieces for one
ARI
  1. Drouin, Jonathan
  2. Fleury, Cale
Additional Details:
Reasonable value? May need a bit more salary coming back from Arizona to even out the cap hit

right now arizona has the 3rd best defense in the league. why are they getting rid of a young stud for offense? their forward group is pretty decent. i dont think you are getting a dman from arizona.

I know what you're saying, the Coyotes likely don't want to move one of their young defensive building blocks. But Arizona offense last year was 27th in the league, and this year it sits near the bottom again (obviously it's early in the season). The defense and goaltending is solid, but without some offensive depth they're still going to have trouble making the playoffs.

I would think there is a point where the offer is too good to refuse. Maybe the Habs add a better young defensive prospect to sweeten the pot...maybe change it to Drouin and Cale Fleury. Then the coyotes get 2 young building blocks for one...

Drouin is severely overrated. Ide like to note, arizona has played 5 games so far this year. and are averaging a little over 2 goals per game. you can win on defense and goaltending. bruins are 5-1 right now with only 16 goals scored. Look at the blues last year. they wont because of exactly that. They added a prolific scorer in kessel. give it a few games for them to develop chemistry and i think they will be middle of the pack watch out for arizona this year.
