Technically all one has to do to get the 2nd pick is be one of the worst 15 teams and get lucky

They’ve played four games and while they looked great the first two games they haven’t at all in the last two

The rangers top line and goaltending will put them in the category of not being good enough to qualify for the playoffs but not good enough to get a top 2 pick either

If there goaltending played the way it did last night that will be a negative for them as well

Kreider is a UFA. Why would Edmonton trade for him?

Edmonton traded #57 & #79 to NYR for Talbot. I highly doubt you're getting a 1st and a 2nd (both potentially higher than #57) for Georgiev.

Because they're in a position to compete this year and Kreider makes sense for them as a rental

So that trade happens at the deadline then?

That was my intent, yeah. Kreider helps them make a cup run and Georgiev gives them a very competent goaltender who could potentially be a starter for them
