Edmonton has defensemen coming out their ears next summer, why are you spending a high pick to sign a 3rd pairing guy?

Re-signing Gagner, Manning and Granlund is very unrealistic - and probably some of the other bottom-6 players too. Do you think expecting Puljujarvi to come back is realistic?

Not only does Edmonton have a plethora of defensive depth within the organization, some of the most prized assets will no longer be waiver exempt. Personally, I wonder if Holland and Tippett view the Lagesson/Jones competition as a priority consideration prior to making any substantive moves. Regardless of whether, or not, his team is a buyer, or seller, at the trade deadline, Holland has some pretty interesting assets available. If a buyer, Puljujarvi and Jones (or Lagesson), and possibly Day are all possibilities. If a seller, Kassian may actually be his most attractive asset; and he can be combined with any of the other assets to sweeten the pot and increase the return.

Very true. This mock spends a 2nd round pick to acquire a 3rd pairing defenseman, then puts both Jones and Lagesson on waivers where they'll be lost for nothing. Very poor asset management, IMO.
