I agree but I think he is assuming an extension would be in place which makes the return much more reasonable

I think they keep byram, then try and resign hall in the offseason if that's what they want to do... as an avs fan I would like to see hall on the team but as a rational fan I realize it's probably a no go

They won't give up Byram. He has too high of a ceiling to be traded. Kaut, Jost, or even Newhook are more likely to be moved.

even an extension in place, Avs arent trading Byram, he is a key cog in their long term plan. Makar, Giard, Byram, Timmins is their Top 4 core they are transitioning into. Avs dont need superstar scoring winger, they have that already.

Hall doesnt solve a need for them, Byram establishes a young high end D core for the next decade. He isnt going anywhere.

Well all your doing right now is hoping that he will. Byram looks to be a can't miss prospect but time will tell if that's the case. I see the merit to this Hall deal for the Avs though. Outside of the top line the quality of truly threatening offensive players is a big drop. Having Hall on a second line with Kadri is a luxury very few team's have. The scoring would be truly spread throughout the lineup. While Colorado is a young team they are also appproaching Win Now mode with new deals for the likes of Mackinnon, Makar, Landeskog, Grubauer, etc. on the horizon. Byram is still probably at least two years away from being an established top four defenseman which coincides with some of the players needing new contracts that I mentionned above. While this would be really nice to still have Byram on and ELC while your other players are getting PAID there is also certainly a case to be made to go all in on this core while they are primed and cheap for the next few seasons. That's just my opinion, I think before the Avs become cap strapped in a few years they should use this time to truly go for it, and I think that in these few years they have a better chance at the cup with Hall in the present than they do with Byram in the future.

Avs have a window to be competitive for a very long time, Byram and his ELC extend that, thats how teams fall into the trap...burning all their assets in trying to win it now with rentals and high priced UFAs.

Hall is a nice to have, but htey dont need him, they need guys like Byram who is a high end prospect playing on his ELC to help extend the window more than they need a 10-12m winger

I disagree your scoring. Right now Avs have 3 other lines who can all score, its quality scoring depth spread throughout after the top line. The Avs top line arent scoring the majority of the goals, its balanced scoring right now

Avs have 24 goals on the season...9 are from the top line (2 of those are empty net goals). It may not be sexy scoring out of the top 3 but its damn effective
