D Line for the Playoffs

Created by: CapFriendlysFinest

Description
I would love to take a stab at getting Green out of Det for a deep playoff run.
Trying to dangle someone like Bracco is key as we have too much depth on the right side of the wing and it would be a waste to see his offense only in the AHL. Bracco could slide nicely into the Wings third line and second PP unit. Bracco I dont think is enough to get Green so a third is moved too. A second and Bracco seems like too much for Green. Ceci is sent over for cap reasons and that the Wings would need another RHD.

I would also move Sandin back up on the third pair with Dermott. He wouldnt get alot of playing time, around 11-13 mins a night but hes skills cant be denied, hes much better than anything else we have. Having Dermott on his right side even tho hes a lefty doesnt scare me as both are smooth skating D.

I would feel really confident having this D pair going into the playoffs. Even if their was an injury, Sandin and Dermott could step up.

How would YOU like to see the D lines come the spring?

Green hasn't played a full season since 2008. Is that a guy you'd want to pickup for a deep playoff run? Haven't watched Detroit yet this year so no idea how he's playing, but seems like a big risk given his recent injury history.

Hes been good when he has played. His problem is staying healthy but considering we wouldnt be resigning him i'd take the risk.
He plays a similar game to Reilly which is great too

Green is a good defense man, and this isn't a bad match.
I think there are other problems with it though. A. he'd have to want to play for bab. and B. if you look at his no trade clause, it's basically a "you aren't trading me clause."
Which probably has a lot to do with him having kids and not wanting to be away from them.
The trade clause is NTC until Feb 1st 2020, Which basically means to playoff teams only, and then it's a 10 team no trade list. So you are looking at a list of him ruling out almost all playoff teams, which would be the only ones looking to get a rental.

So yeah, I don't see this happening.

Green has came out twice saying he doesnt want to leave Det so I dont disagree with you. His NTC allows him to just say hell na to coming to the Leafs.
Reason I suggest it is for two reasons. 1) Its a good shot that Green has at a cup, his never won one so that idea is still in his head. Playing with the Leafs he knows its the one thing they need most right now is D help. 2) He can always resign in Det after the season. The Red Wings have gone on file saying they are open to an extension with Green, so he wouldnt have to move away from his family. Just more or less take a long bussiness trip.

I also wont comment on the babcock situation LOL

No chance Green waives his NTC to play for Babcock.

More then fair trade, Wings could also probably flip Ceci for a mid round pick to a team at the TDL.
