Debate - Kaprizovs ceiling

Created by: SevenLeg
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 19, 2019
Published: Oct. 19, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kaprizov is ranked amongst the best prospects in the world right now but is also yet to play a single game of north american hockey so anything could happen once he comes over. But regardless of that, what category of russian players do you think his potential could bring him to:

1 (Supersar/Generational) Fedorov, Kucherov, Ovi, Bure, Dastyuk, Malkin, etc
2 (Elite/Top Line) Kuznetsov, Semin, Yashin, Tarasenko, Zhamnov, etc.
3 (Good) Frolov, Kovalenko, Nemchinov, Anisimov, Brylin
4 (Busts) Yakupov, Grigorenko, Alexeev, Chistov

Probably somewhere between good and elite. He is what like 22 now? So it’s hard to know at this point.

He has the potential to be better than Panarin, I mean the guy scored 30 goals in the KHL as a 21 year old and he has 12 goals in 18 games this year for crying out loud. The big question is whether or not he can translate his game to the NHL. I'd say he's a 2nd line forward at his floor, and probably a 2 and maybe, maybe a 1 of your rating as his ceiling.

Probably the low end of #2. I think he’s a top-line guy but I don’t think he’ll ever be as good as Panarin/Kuzy/Tarasenko

So basically, almost all of us agree that he'll be somewhere between Semin and Tarasenko

Elite to Generational. He's at least as good as Tarasenko.
