Ehlers is laines bff, ehlers needs something shinier than that, off to a solid start after a solid summer of training.

Bear, pool party, would be my requests from Edmonton, always building for a better day in wpg. I’m assuming that there would be lots of people to cove me on abuse and invectives. Lol good luck

This is so garbage!!!!! As a jets fan I only see it as fair if Draisaitl is the return. Edmonton would probably have to add to even it out.

I have a lot of trouble seeing hall having any interest in returning. He was scapegoated on the way out and the city cheered that he would be more than replaced with Lucic...

It was understandable at the time. Hall was in a slump and only scored ~50 points. Lucic played the same position and also scored ~50 points, but added toughness, character, and leadership PLUS had been deep in the playoffs multiple times, including Stanley cups. It was reasonable to think that Lucic would replace Hall for the same salary. Plus Edmonton needed defense more than offensive firepower at the time. Unlike everybody else, I do not fault Chiarelli for the Hall/Larsson trade.

But do not get me started about the Griffin Reinhart trade, the Alex Petrovic trade, the Caggiula/Brandon Manning trade, the Benoit Pouliot signing, the Eric Gryba buyout, the Eberle/Strome trade . . . Pete Chiarelli was BAD at trades.

In his defense, he was AMAZING at drafting, and we are just now seeing his genius.

I said it at the time and I'll say it now. The problem with the hall trade was not trading from an area of strength for an area of weakness that makes sense. The problem was the value was off. If it was hall for Larsson abd a first it would have made sense and wouldn't have been such a story.

Anyway I wasn't talking about the literal trade I was talking about how he was treated. He was treated like **** by the fans and Edmonton media and made out to be the cause of all of Edmonton's problems. Why would he want to come back after they shat on him. If I was him I'd say screw Edmonton.

Yeah, I went off an a tangent. Yes, you are right that Hallsy was abused by a certain group of fans/media who felt that he did not live up to his potential. And yeah, he might have some bad blood. But that said, he also has some big fans in Edmonton and showed some great chemistry with Nuge and Draisaitl. He has also grown up a lot since his partying days in Edmonton and has developed a much stronger work ethic and better attitude.

And you are absolutely right about Hall's 15-16 point total. I was thinking of their 16-17 point totals, which were 53 for Hall and 50 for Lucic. My point was that it was not readily apparent that the Lucic signing was a disaster at the time, especially since they made the playoffs the year they signed Larsson and Lucic. Larsson could have easily become the superstar d-man that Edmonton was been searching for since Chris Pronger left. But yes, they should have gotten waayy more back on the Hall/Larsson trade. Like a 1st round draft pick from 18-19 (LOL).

Lol

You see my point clearly. I guess it all depends how much Hall took the BS on the way out the door personally.

Could he wrote it off to a few dumb fans when the rest of the city loved him as you say (I have no idea of the truth of this but I'm happy to take your word)? Certainly possible

Or will he say the city scorned him and has no interest in coming back? Also possible, and personally my suspicion.

Cheers
