Big pass on that contract. Bigger pass on that trade. Tierney is better than Gagner and Abramov is better than Puljujarvi

Oilers pass too, and Abramov is not better than Puju. Not even close.

Pietrangelo is staying in St Louis, Ottawa is the last team he'd ever sign with.

...Tierney is better than everyone in that trade...Oiler should take that in a heartbeat lmao. It’s a rip off, and Ottawa loses that trade

Look Tierney is a nice player. He's a good 3rd line Centre, borderline 2nd. But he's not so much better than Puljujarvi. Plus his position is a position of strength and there's no room for him. I think if I can get people debating both sides then it's a solid trade.

While I don't like mid 30s contracts, petro is a great Dman with a good health history. It would be a pretty enviable D corps and would stabilize the weakest part of the organization

Nobody's debating both sides other than one person who's a pretty active Ottawa hater around here. It's crystal clear that it's a terrible trade for Ottawa. Puljujarvi couldn't kick it on what was considered the weakest forward corps in the league, Gagner is past his prime, and Tierney is the best player in that trade before even bringing in the involvement of Abramov. Also, Jesse's mentality of being handed everything to him based off draft position doesn't fly with the culture the Sens org is trying to build. The Oilers were reportedly looking for a 3rd liner in return back in the summer, not a guy who just got 50 points with mostly nobodies or rookies on his line and an exciting prospect. Oh and take this cap dump in Sam Gagner too? Ha.
