Short term solutions OTT TOR

Created by: joshelkin
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 19, 2019
Published: Oct. 19, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Tierney, Chris
Additional Details:
Sure the sample size is small, but Tierney is winning 60% of his faceoffs so far this season. The Isles don't win draws to save their lives. Tierney is 7 years younger and an RFA at the end of this season. He could be a solution for this year and maybe another one or two beyond as NYI await Otto Koivula.
OTT
  1. Brassard, Derick
  2. Ho-Sang, Joshua
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Brassard is a throw in. He wouldn't have a spot on NYI following this trade. OTT is familiar with him, but I'd expect they just flip him somewhere else for a 4th or 5th.
2.
NYI
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi
Additional Details:
Kapanen helps middle-6 scoring efforts for NYI.
TOR
  1. Dal Colle, Michael
  2. Mayfield, Scott
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
The injury bug is hitting Toronto, HARD. We know TOR needs cheap, cost controlled RD. Not sure if Leaf fans are still riding Kapanen for throwing his stick...but I think it would be wise to covert one of those assets into multiple pieces that you can actually fit into the lineup. We're not even 10 games into the season and it's blatantly obvious a 21 man roster isn't going to work.

I'd rather see Ho-Sang swapped with a pick. Don't see him working in Ottawa any better than New York given the focus Ottawa puts on having "character" guys. It also puts Ottawa at 50/50 contracts, which was supposedly the reason they didn't put a claim on him when he was on Waivers.

Both trades are fair but I don't think Toronto would do that until after Hyman and Tavares return to the lineup

by the way, Barry demoting Wahlstrom to the 4th line was infuriating.

Is that what happened? I thought it had something to do with Bardreau. He didn't play much (for good reason) in the 3rd. Lines looked juggled and it was Matty who took a shift with the 3rd line.

I honestly don’t mind the Kapanen for Mayfield deal anymore. Mayfield has been decent this year, but if we could squeeze 20 goals and 40 points out of Kapanen, that’s a trade I’m cool down to make. Forces them to play Noah Dobson too, which is probably a good thing at this point.
Isles777 and joshelkin liked this.

Wahlstrom was solid in the 1st but I’m assuming he was demoted because he mishandled brassards pass which led to a CBJ goal. That line was on for both goals.

I hope they don’t use one bad defensive period as an excuse to scratch wahlstrom next game. I mean why tf is kuhnhackl still on the 1st line, it really is bizarre lol

Don't see the Sens trading the steady Tierney for really nothing impressive. How to Brassard earn a M NTC? He might use to stop a trade to Ottawa.
Although I don't mind the concept of Kapanen for Mayfield, the Leafs have no reason to waste a spot on the 50 man roster with DalColle.

Brassard doesn't have any clauses to stop movement, could swap out MDC for another prospect if necessary. General framework
