Why would Anaheim trade a 22 year old first round selection for a 3rd pair defenseman in his 30s? Even the 2nd round pick doesnt make up the difference. Easy no from Anaheim

See @AFOX10900 , above.

Weegar is 25, RFA, and has already taken 16 credited shots this year -- an area in which Anaheim's defensemen are somewhat deficient. He allows Fowler to move back to his strong side and has been playing with Aaron Ekblad, of whom you may have heard. Yes, I would hate to lose Larsson, but we have Brendan Guhle and Josh Mahura behind him, and Jackson Lacombe and Henry Thrun behind them. And the second is the key to the exchange.

Would ANA be interested in Petro?

Sure, but I try to stay away from the blockbuster dreams. We couldn't afford to trade for him, though.

Guhle and Fowler are the pair. That won’t change so if you’re adding Weegar it’s for the 3rd pairing. I’d rather let Guhle and Larsson play consistently and come TDL see where they are. If you keep adding guys and moving them down how will you ever know if they will be top 4 guys?

Also as for shots on goal for Weegar, that means nothing. This season I’ve already seen Holzer, Lindholm and MDZ in the crease offensively. The D have more freedom and they moving in the Ozone a lot. This system will produce more offense from the D. Let’s suck back and watch this team and come back around January to discuss what moves they should make.

I think we only have one sure fire pair, which is Lindholm and Manson. I can't see Fowler being on his right side forever. I do like how they play together, but most of the mishandled pucks I have seen from the D come from them being on their off side or having to pivot to make a pass to their partner.
