Pretty sure that would be a no from Habs fans. Look I get it that Petry has been a beast this year but he is not a 1st Pairing RHD. As a TML I would seriously consider it as it not only addresses our RHD and it gives us a #3C/4C that would likely make our team better down the middle this year and as Phoeling grows could push out Kerfoot who is likely a good trade chip.

There's no chance for a blockbuster Leafs-Habs trade

But to me it's an easy yes for MTL. Nylander and Kapanen have good and secured contracts. Weber's contract could turn out to be ugly even if he actually has a low salary late in the contract (1m, but still 7.8m cap hit. Dorion's kind of player). Poehling is a great prospect, but KK and Suzuki are superior and have higher ceiling. This trade is too good to pass anyway.

We all know Weber will not live up his contract (6 years remaining, and he's 34 already), but it will happen sooner than expected IMO. He has a so-so start this season and I'm concerned by his speed already, and generaly by his mobility. In short, he might only have a 3rd pair role in 2 years and for now, he's not a number 1 IMO : Petry is 1st.
