Detroit passes because they have 10 players signed for next season and taking on Backes makes that a lot harder. Now with Detroit traded Pope for Biega because he wanted another veteran dman since they had a bunch of vets on the IR. With the forwards Detroit has drafted recently Pope became a long shot to make the Wings. So if Boston wants Biega I don't see how he could be expensive but taking on Backes as a cap dump probably won't happen.
