It's definitely going to be an up hill battle but as someone pointed out a couple of weeks ago with Crosby anything is possible.

It's not a scary contender but with that core playoffs are always possible

I'm not sure what advanced metrics you're looking at but Crosby's career Corsi For %, Fenwick For %, are all higher than Matthews'.

I won't mention the fact Crosby has more points per game than Matthews as well with 2% fewer offensive zone starts.
