He's at 8 games.
They are really on the line here. They need to send him down and get it over with. There is no point on wasting a contract year on a kid who is not ready to play at the NHL level.

You've been preaching this since day 1. Where's the outrage over Kakko? Last I checked Hughes has more points (albeit with two more games played). Move Jack to wing and he'll be fine, Center position...to be determined.

I have only seen Kakko play one game, which is why I don't comment on his play.
But I've seen 3 games of NJ now. And he's not ready!

Yeah kids definitely livid, can't legally consume alcohol but has the coin to buy a sweet penthouse in Hoboken and a beach front house at the shore and still have 45 mil in the bank. Sucks to suck.

I believe we've done this dance before. No need to have this convo again. We'll just agree that you know more then every GM in the NHL, Ray Shero included, and that we should abide by your logic and principles when discussing the handling of elite NHL prospects.

what an ignorant comment. Especially from a guy with 36 posts.

Hughes is clearly not ready. Every NJ fan knows this.
Playing him past the 9 games screws over the organization.
There is nothing to be gained here. NJ is not a playoff team.
He needs to go get developed like every other prospect.
In his case he can't go to a CHL club, or to the NCAA because it's too late for that.
He can go to the AHL, gain weight which he desperately needs to do. Work on his skill development and keep playing within the same system.
In your brilliant thinking, you would waste on of your 7 years with him under contract control tooling him around in a lost cause.

The amount of posts I have has nothing to do with the fact that I find your comments to be ridiculous. Get off your high horse Mr. 6,626.
No every NJ fan doesn't know this- in fact, most agree he should stay up, but as a winger. How do I know? I'm a season ticket holder and go to most of the events.
The organization believes he's ready- so they're screwing themselves over?
How do you know NJ isn't a playoff team? They were projected by many models to have 94 pts. No reason they can't go on a winning streak and fulfill that model It's been 8 games. Chill.
He does need to be developed like every other prospect, and he will. In the NHL.
Why can't he gain weight in the NHL again??
In my brilliant thinking, yes, I would keep him up this season and "waste one of the 7 years. Depends on how you define waste. I don't view on the job training as a waste, especially when dealing with high end talent.

I think the takeaway here is that the devils want to trade to reobtain reid boucher. this is newsworthy

Also i skimmed everyone elses comments - jack is ready, he's figuring it out, theres no denying that with the puck the team is more dangerous. Of all my criticism of john hynes, the one thing he stands out for is player development. Jack will be fine developing under hynes, he will scale back minutes or scale up minutes as necessary, put him in positions to succeed, etc.

secondly, nicos contract is solid

Lets get this right.
in 9 games he has 3 even strength assists and 0 goals, and a 5v5 Corsi of 44.6% and you think he's playing well?
2 of those assists just happened against AZ, who frankly isn't really a great team.
Look I could care less if you burn through a year of his contract for nothing. People make their own mistakes all the time, especially if they think it helps them sell tickets.

I was hoping you would bring Corsi into this. He's actually at 47.1% (per hockey-reference) which isn't bad for a rookie center, so thanks for blatantly lying about that statistic to try and prove your point. Also Corsi needs to be taken in context with overall team play. The Devs are obviously not a very good team to start the season with a team Corsi of 46.9%. So by that metric, which you brought into play, Hughes is an above average player on what is right now a bad team. Why would they send down one of their better players?

you should really learn to use the advanced stats page and go to 5v5.
and at the time of posting, yes 44.6% I don't know what it is now, not bothering to look.
probably roughly the same.
so thanks for showing me how you cherry pick things.

Lol the "Advanced Stats" has his Corsi in ALL situations at 59.5 and his Fenwick at 60.0. His even strength (5v5 as you call it) is 47.1. I'm not cherry picking stats- I've provided both links to show where I am getting my information. If i'm reading it wrong, please tell me, otherwise you can just admit you're wrong.
