Caps aren't giving up Eller, Kempny, and a 1st for that package.

Eller has been really good this year so far. Kempny is probably our most important defenseman outside of Carlson, and none of the return is worth those two and the first rounder.

That is a frightening comment.

Is it not true? There was a noticeable improvement when we acquired him, and a noticeable drop-off when he was injured. He's certainly not a top level talent, but he's solid and adds a ton of value. Orlov is probably our next best defenseman after Carlson, but those two don't like playing together for whatever reason.

I'd probably say Carlson/Orlov are the top 2, and they're closer than the points would suggest. Orlov might just be our best D guy at playing D so far this year. Carlson has racked up an insane amount of points, but they do get inflated a bit due to Ovi being Ovi.

Kempny is important though, and is usually solid. He's like a better Jensen, more or less, for the same price.
