Lol dude I don't know. On paper I know our D looks alot better and we won't have to wait 7 yrs for Primeau to become the #1. Hopefully Stephane Waite can do some magic with Jones. And hopefully Weber, Suter and Vlasic decide to retire before their contracts are up since the recapturing penatlies are mostly on the teams that gave it to them.

You don't want Benn, he's declining and you'd have to pay him 9.5M until 24-25. And I have no idea why you'd ever make the Price trade. Yeesh.

Like i told the other poster, Primeau won't have to wait 6 more years to be the #1. And the D is better (for now) to perhaps make Jones look better

giving away our only top 6 RW with no replacement says we're not contenders.

you're going after names just because they're all stars
it has nothing to do with MTL's needs or this team being a contender.

getting Suter makes sense as we'd only have to give up Tatar and Armia before summer 2021 to make the cap work
every other trade though makes no sense especially Vlasic , like WTF is his purpose if Suter's there?

this roster is a chemistry nightmare like the LAK back in the 1990's there is to many cooks in the kitchen and
not enough team players just bunch of individuals .

Benn has value but DAL will have to take back a contract to make it work .

example would be Byron ,Juulsen , 1st and a conditional 2nd if Benn wins a cup
not saying thats the exact value just the formula needed to make it worth it .

Benn is a guy who would be beyond perfect playing beside Gallagher in the right situation .
but its honestly hard to imagine DAL doing it or MTL for that matter given where both teams are .

Still having Benn and Danault at Center in the top 6 would give us a top 6 for a playoff run but only if the cost isnt key roster players this year .

You can play the violin all you want but there's no data to back up your "chemistry nightmare" statement. Im trying to improve the D and get bigger up front. Hall, Benn and Poehling make us bigger last time I checked.

Don't pretend to know how this squad will perform on the ice, i won't either. But on paper they look like they can hold their own in the playoffs. Yup RW is weak, oh well, I'll let the prospects battle it out for the chance to play along Hall and Benn. But I know that in a year or 2 I'll be fine with Caufield and Suzuki, and perhaps Ylonen in the top 9.

SJ is probably 1 of the very few teams that Price would waive his NMC for. Vlasic is a bad contract I gotta take back for Price's bad contract. I don't want Price in MTL. But Vlasic he's still useful if his minutes are managed properly. Yup it's a crap term just like Suter's and Weber's but Ill just secretly hope 1 or 2 of them retire before their contract expires. And if they don't, they don't.

When Leddy's contract is up Romanov will be nice and ripe.

all other incorrect things aside, that price trade is brutal for montreal. he's not the reason why montreal can't make the playoffs, still your best player

Never claimed that his play is the reason they can't make the playoffs. Actually he's the reason why they've made the playoffs when they have. But his contract now is the reason why MTL can't afford to pay a gamebreaker to actually make a deep run when they're in the playoffs.

Sometimes I can't look too far into the future. Knowing that the cap does go up every year weather it's 2, 3 or 4 mill, it still goes up. Also knowing that Petry's, Danault's,Armia's and Lehkonen's contracts are up in 2 yrs will help (not saying I'd trade all of them or let them walk as FA's) but for sure I can't keep all of them. With Poehling and Suzuki 1 of them could replace Danault. 1 of Brook, Juulsen and Fleury could replace Petry. Suzuki could potentially play on RW with Caufield also they could replace Armia. there's too many variables and possibilities right now.

There's the expansion draft and that could help to take a hefty contract off my hands if it comes to that. (If Primeau is developing properly, I'll expose Jones). There's also the next CBA that hopefully will offer every team at least 1 compliance buy-out, wishfully 2. Bye bye 1 or 2 of Weber/Suter/Vlasic.

Domi will have to settle for a bridge. Thankfully he's a RFA.

Man, imagine come the expansion draft and you have to protect 34 year old declining Vlasic and 36 year old declining Suter. I like Martin Jones but I've seen more consistency in gas prices.

The way i see it is, most of my young crop is exempt from the draft. I'll go with the 7 F 3D and 1G option. On D I'll protect (no choice Suter and Vlasic) and Fleury. And up front Domi, Hall, Benn, Kotkaniemi, Danault, Armia and Lehkonen. I'll have to expose Juulsen. And depending how Primeau is progressing I'll decide if I'll protect Jones or not.

I'll just have to cross my fingers that every team will be given a compliance buy out with the next CBA and use them on Weber or Suter or Vlasic.
