I think it will be hard to move that contract, unless Price goes the way of Horton or Clarkson, and I do not see Montreal retaining much of his salary over that length of time.

my initial thought too, but with the retained salary, it's not that bad. Colorado could use him as a 2-3 year rental and flip him. Assuming a normal Lunqvist like decline, if they retained another 2m in a deal. 5m for an aging Price would be very reasonable.

Have to understand the Habs aren't trying to get rid of Price either. He's still a good player. He may be sucky in 4 years but until we know that for sure no one is going to be selling him short. Either they get the value for him they feel is fair now or they just keep him. Its that simple. That's why He's untradeable.

No team will pay MTL's asking price.
The price any team is willing to pay is less value than just keeping Price altogether.

Hence untradeable. Not because Price isn't good, the market isn't there for him. That's all.

Anyways people are overreacting all over the place right now. Same for Toronto fans, same for some Dallas fans etc. Price hasn't been good this year but anyone who sees the games knows that defense has been equally or even worse than Price has been so far. Not many goalies can make a bad defense look good.

Grubi is younger cheaper and playing better than price. Why do the habs gain solid assets for avs to downgrade in net this season and enter into cap hell

I am not commenting on anything opinionwise here. All I am going to say is how ridiculous fans are getting. Price hasn't been great yet and he's getting traded and is garbage and his return will be small and the habs will have to eat salary.

Watch him put a string of a few really good performances together and then he'll be worth more than McDavid.

Just extremes from one side to the next these days, its almost impossible to follow. Its like everyone is becoming bipolar.

Its not even just that, because it gets a reaction out of everyone, some posters inner troll comes out and now we have a Price>Colorado pandemic even though they know its probably not legit.

Its part of the game with having a, what should be, serious forum about hockey trade fantasy, which is hijacked by a bunch of teens/kids for all I know or people just looking to be negative all the time.

Its the reason gullible people are gullible and when there are more gullible people than not, you get a day like today on CF.

Look price is the best goalie out there, but his contract is the second worst goalie contract next to bobrovsky, no way MTL takes on 5,250,000 in retention for 7 years.. and you cant just flip a 35 year old goalie who has 4 more years on his deal. It's not that easy so the rental idea is out, price is going to be a canadien for the forseable future
