Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 25, 2019
Published: Oct. 25, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not a chance the Avs trade Byram, the best defensive prospect who has yet to play in the NHL, for a 32-year-old goalie on a contract that looks drastically worse by the year.

This is what the team looks like three years from now with a reasonable goaltender acquisition.

If grubes continues to play like he is there is no reason he won't be here in 3 years.

Also did you not finish the roster on purpose? I am wondering what happened to landy

Yikes. Appreciate you somewhat understanding the Avs situation but there are a few things terribly wrong with this roster.
#1: Where the eff did Landeskog go?
#2: Georgiev will cost more than a 1st
#3: Georgiev is in Grubauer's spot
#4: Travis Barron and Josh Anderson do not belong on an NHL Roster
#5: Graves needs to be where you've got Anderson slotted
#6: Zadorov's current QO must be over 3.2M, therefor you can't sign him to that contract.
#7: Don't think you get rid of Johnson that easily.
#8: Who gets taken in Seattle Expansion Draft?

    That's it for now.

I just felt that Landeskog might price himself out of Colorado, especially if guys like Burakovsky and Kaut prove to be solid long-term. And as for Grubauer/Georgiev - I'm sure Grubauer has a good chance of sticking around, but I just think Georgiev is going to be a solid starter somewhere in the near future, and is much younger too.

But overall, I'm not a natural Avs fan so I don't know that much about their situation beyond what I've interpreted myself.

Most of the Avs current prospects are uncertain and big "what-ifs" which definitely makes it difficult to predict their future. Landeskog definitely will not price himself out. He's their captain, both parties are 100% commited.

Also, don't you think the Rangers will seek to keep Georgiev as their future #1 since Hank is knocking on retirement's door soon?

    True, good point.

About the Rangers and Georgiev - don't think so. Shesterkin is the next starter no matter what, and they have Adam Huska to be a backup once Lundqvist retires.

Ahh, see I did not know anything about Shesterkin. He's got great numbers. Lucky you guys!

Yeah, I'm hyped for Shesterkin! Should be a full-time NHL goalie next year. That's why I'd love to see Georgiev get the starter job elsewhere, and I feel like Colorado would be a prime candidate.
