Hall Signs in Pittsburgh

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 15, 2019
Published: Oct. 25, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
(Here's a construction I did at the beginning of the season, i.e., before Manson's injury last night and the trade today. I've even kept the introductory comments. Note that instead of Hall, the Penguins could keep Galchenyuk and McCann.)

I sure as hell would rather have him there than in Calgary.

Rust and McCann are Hall-signing/cap casualties. For McCann the Pens get two highly-rated prospects who are exempt from the Seattle expansion draft, as is Nick Henry. All three are right-handed forwards.

Jarry, MacEwen, Bjorkqvist and Trotman are shown on the LTIR as alternatives for DeSmith, Lafferty, Poulin and Ruhwedel, respectively.

Thanks! I don't know the prospect pool in the system all that well.

Can I just say that Taylor Hall is a big dumb mook. He's not worth that kind of money to Pittsburgh.

I think pens should keep mccann and rust and trade Horny for something before his contract gets ugly

Fair enough. I drafted this team when Hall posts were all the rage (two weeks ago), and I was trying it on for size for Pittsburgh. Personally, I'd keep Galchenyuk and McCann for the same money.

You can't trade Hornqvist without his approval.

And the contract is already ugly.

true, find somewhere he approves of than, he probably knows he doesn't have a spot in pittsburgh anymore, he cant keep up w sid and guentz, doesnt play well w geno, and is basically useless on the third line.
He will definently have value to teams, everyone needs a guy who can finish (Buff, NYI, MIN)

Idk about that, when you watch him yes, on paper he's doing his job though 8pt in 11 games you can't ask for more

I don't think that either the Sabres or the Islanders are as interested in Hornqvist as you think. Minnesota would want you to take Rask in return, which defeats the purpose of the exercise. One premise of my Pittsburgh posts is that Hornqvist is essentially untradeable; if Rutherford manages to move him somewhere, that should be treated as icing on the cake. Meanwhile, the roster has to be organized around him.

What he means by "already" is that perhaps in 2 years, you'll be lucky to get 11 points out of him in 80 games.
