Price is still an elite goalie but if he were to be traded the return would be extremely underwhelming for MTL, goalies don’t typically fetch much in trade and factor that in with the money left on the Price deal and the inevitable regression in the next 7 years he will face

exactly, this. No team is going to move any significant value if they were interested in Price bc that contract is UGLY

Goalie doesn’t show sign of declining until late 30’s historically ( brodeur, joseph, belfour, Lundqvist, roy, luongo, sawchuk, fleury) all play at a very high level in their late 30’s

Team would be interested in Price if he where on the market. But this rumors is pure speculation its a former nhlers that said that colorado are one pieces away from a few stanley cup. Colorado would be the team to beat with price in goal. Trading future asset for
A stanley cup is always a good trade.

Remember that Roy explicitly said he didn't want to play for the habs ever again after the Coach didn't pull him from a game

I guess you didn't get the point. It was joke smh. I wast just pointing out those Price trade rumours lead by Philippe Boucher were stupid. The reporter wrote a "fantasy Price trade" with the purpose of making look like Roy 2.0 trade. Yet he included Byram in his "Roy 2.0 trade" which didn't make any sense because the Habs got nothing in a Roy trade.

No I get it. Montreal is 6th in Their division and just n average team. They are stuck being mediocre so you see lots of this fantasy type stuff from their media

Point stands that even in their we need a trade like this to set up long term success, price is the last guy to trade bc you won’t get that value for him based on his age and contract
