Losing McCabe, Borgen and Thompson for a rental is hardcore ... And a first. Hall hasn't proved he is worth this all yet, except for 1 year.

That's too much for a rental, no team will do that. McCabe is untouchable right now, and he is also an assistant captain, you don't just trade them away. I feel like Thompson, Sheary and a 1st would be enough but I also wouldn't ever do that

All jokes aside, you guys gotta realize that Hall will cost a lot. Two years ago he was a hart winner, last year he got injured, if it wasn’t for that injury I would have thought we would see almost same level of play. It’s gonna cost any team a decent amount to get him. I see this hall situation more working out like the Mark Stone trade. A contract extension would probably be negotiated with the trade as most team would probably want to lock him up long term for the asking price of acquiring him. Only way I see teams doing a true rental is if NJ asking price is lower.

Buffalo are not in the rental market this year. We will have the cap room this off season to pursue him as a UFA if our GM thinks he fits

Its an open market, that might be the cost. Not sure if i would pay it yet. Early results are promising, but i gotta see more over months before i start moving futures. Also, if we trade for hall, i wanna keep him, which probably means losing reinhart. Its too much of a tangle. You wait to make sure you are legit, then you try to find out if he would sign, then you try to get something for reinhart...cant see this happening.

If NJD decides to trade Hall it really won’t be about what what he is worth. I say that because there will be a few teams willing to grossly over pay to get him.
